Lim Qi Qin, harpist
Lim Qi Qin is a versatile harpist and has appeared as a soloist, ensemble member, and session musician. Some reputable locations where she has performed include Esplanade Concert Hall, Victoria Concert Hall, and Gardens By The Bay.

Named the top scorer of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (School of Music)’s undergraduate string faculty in 2024, Qi Qin made her solo debut alongside the NAFA string orchestra in a 2024 concert titled Battle • Dance • Serenade as part of a NAFA concert series. Her assiduity with solo performance has led her to appear in various platforms and recitals throughout her academic journey. She has also participated in competitions for solo harp and festivals, such as the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Concerto Competition.

As an avid collaborative musician, Qi Qin works with symphonic, string, wind, and Chinese orchestras. She has performed with renowned local ensembles, including The Philharmonic Orchestra (Singapore), re: mix, and Musicians’ Initiative. She has played under the baton of notable conductors such as George Manahan, Leonard Slatkin, Mei-Ann Chen, and Lim Yau. Additionally, she has earned awards at chamber music competitions, such as the Raffles International Piano & Violin Competition and the International Event for the Victoria College of Music and Drama, London Examination in Ensemble Playing. She also works alongside composers to premiere and perform new music.

Aside from the harp, Qi Qin is also well-versed in other instruments, namely the piano, violin, and viola. She has ABRSM certifications for all four instruments (including the harp), with two diplomas in piano (ABRSM and ARSM) and grade 8 for the remaining instruments. She has participated in various competitions and festivals for these other instruments, such as the Singapore International Festival of Music Competition, the Raffles International Piano & Violin Competition, and the Le Petit Performers’ Festival.

Qi Qin does not stop at performing, but also strives to improve herself in other areas as a musician, such as composition. Her most recent endeavour involved composing music and performing live for the multi-sensory and interdisciplinary collaborative project Essence Of Lines.

At present, Qi Qin is pursuing a Master of Music in Classical Harp at the Manhattan School of Music (New York, USA) under the tutelage of the Associate Principal Harpist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Mariko Anraku. She also holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the Royal College of Music (London, UK) and a Diploma in Music from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (School of Music) (Singapore). Her harp teachers throughout the years include Magdalene Wong, Fontane Liang, Gulnara Mashurova, and Charmaine Teo.
